On Saturday, May 21st Roosevelt Growhouse Community Garden will be hosting a farm-to-table dinner in the heart of the downtown Phoenix’ art district, Roosevelt Row. The event, CultivEAT 2016, will cultivate connections by bringing together friends, family and community over a delicious meal and live music. This is the second year of CultivEAT and we are so pleased to continue this tradition.
Local food is sustainable food and we want to share the harvest. Featuring locally grown produce and foods from the Gardens at Roosevelt Growhouse, Maya’s Farm, Crow’s Dairy, The MEAT SHOP, The Simple Farm and more. Local chef, Robbie Tutlewsk, will prepare a 4-course meal paired with wine from Grand Canyon Wine Co and beer from SanTan Brewing Company, finishing dessert with tea from local favorite Wisdom Nectar Tea. Enjoy the experience with live music from D’Averill & Derek and tours of the garden and mini presentations from the Bioscience students on aquaponics gardening.
Proceeds from this event will be used towards furthering the Growhouse Garden’s efforts to create more urban-agriculture and educational opportunities at the Growhouse for all ages. As an educational partner ofPhoenix Union Bioscience High School, the garden serves as an extension for students to engage in hands-on learning and projects centered in sustainability. Additionally, 25% of the proceeds will also benefit the Evans Churchill Community Association’s mission to raise awareness, promote, improve, and protect the Neighborhood.
