It may have been cold and rainy outside on Friday night, but that didn’t stop the Isac Amaya Foundation from holding their eighth annual Stylos Awards. Held at the beautiful Phoenix Art Museum, this ceremony brought many people together to celebrate the spirit and talent of the community.
For the last eight years, this inspiring event has honored activists, entrepreneurs, artist, entertainers, designers, and leaders who are making a difference in their community. Over 70 volunteers helped to organize the annual ceremony, in which all of the proceeds go to the foundation’s scholarship fund. The Isac Amaya Foundation gives hope to students wanting to achieve a higher education by providing them with financial resources and immense support from the community.
The evening looked to be very promising, as we read through the program filled with the names of dancers, entertainers, bands, and local designers showcasing their collections (perhaps what we were most excited for!). Several awards were given out, with some of the categories including Activist of the Year, Best Band, Project of the Year, and Personality of the Year. After each block of awards was announced, there were live musical performances by the Bad Cactus Brass Band and Los Waukis Andinos. Their rhythmic beats and jazzy feel made us want to get up and dance!
Next, came what we had been waiting for: the fashion show! The designers of the night included Glamour Academia de Moda, Mamaachik, Diva Tutus, ABV HVN, and Paulie Gibson. The models looked absolutely stunning as they fiercely worked the runway!
Check out these dresses by Diva Tutus! They were so vibrant and full of different textures such as feathers, colored jewels, and a variety of fabrics. Who wouldn’t want to wear one of these to a dress-up costume party?
All the other fashion designers did an incredible job as well. We were thoroughly impressed with the shows.
As the fashion show wrapped up, there was one more exciting performer to close out the night. Two- time Grammy nominated band La Santa Cecilia took to the stage and got many people to their feet as their unique and colorful sound filled the air of the museum.
What an unforgettable night of celebrating those who make our community a better place. The music, dancing, and fashion was so much fun and we hope that you go check out the Stylos Awards next year!
