Art.
This 3 letter word can mean so many different things to different people. Brandon Greer of My Boy B is hoping to translate that word into a true experience. He doesn’t want you to simply observe art, he wants you to feel it.
That is the notion behind the Square 1 series – A showcase and creative experience that sets the stage for highlighted acts of visual art, poetry performances, and fashion design; a show that connects the local community of artists and represents the root of all great ideas.
The first event, Daydreaming at Night, will highlight the Visual Arts portion of the artistic experience. Daydreaming at Night is a themed art show meant to inspire and entertain through a collection of hand-picked art pieces and creative acts.
To help you get excited for the event, we have decided to spotlight a few of the artists that will be participating in the show over the course of the next week.
Artist Spotlight: My Name is JZ
One of the many talented artists showcasing their work at Daydreaming at Night is Jordan Zehner, better known as My Name is JZ. JZ never really set out to be an artist, but simply wanted to translate his passion to the world. After seeing that people would pay for the pieces he made to hang in his college apartment, he set up an Etsy shop and the rest is history. He’s never had any formal training; he simply starts with an idea, and finds a way to create it through trial and error.
Some of JZ’s most popular works include his Newsprint Series and Vintage Flashcards (shown below).
This multifaceted artist and entrepreneur is certainly a rising talent to keep your eye on. In fact, many local businesses are already featuring his work, including the We Do Men manspa in Old Town Scottsdale. Don’t miss out on your chance to get up close and personal with these pieces at the first of the Square 1 events on Thursday, April 7th at MonOrchid Gallery in Phoenix.
To see more pieces from My Name is JZ and other amazing Arizona artists, be sure to stop by Square 1 Daydreaming at Night.
