Kade Mislinski, former University of Arizona Graduate is a local Tucson entrepreneur who continues to be an inspiration to the Tucson community. This serial entrepreneur is responsible for Hub Restaurant and Creamery (which, for the record is delicious) as well as Playground, the popular nightclub known for its infamous rooftop dance floor which have continued to be Tucson staples under their new ownership. He also founded and has since sold Lulu’s Shake Shoppe, which provides a to-go style menu for its customers.

Mislinski is currently spearheading Saguaro Corners with David Musso and Monkey Burger with Stuart Lauer. Each business resides in downtown Tucson on Congress Street where they thrive within Tucson’s tourist scene and continue to be hot spots for the students of the University of Arizona. His most recent opening was a whiskey, grilled cheese, and donut joint that he founded with his business partner, Ronnie Spece called Batch Café & Bar . (Several of our team members have tried it. It’s awesome).

Apparently entrepreneurship, specifically in the restaurant industry, runs in Mislinkski’s family beginning with his grandparents in the 1930’s. His grandparents proudly owned the first beer distribution company to be up and running after the Prohibition. Kade’s parents then went on to own two restaurants to continue the family entrepreneurial trend.

Kade’s enterprises are meant to cater to different types of crowds. He tells Tucson.com, “The vision with all my concepts is about my childhood. My job is to get that emotional connection with my guests”. Mislinski believes his team of 68 employees is the basis of his success. He takes responsibility to protect his enterprises for his employees with the idea that if he takes care of them, they will then take care of us.

One of my personal Mislinski favorites, Batch Café & Bar, was the first donut shop in Downtown Tucson to open. At Batch, the idea is small batch food including the most popular doughnuts, unique grilled cheese combinations and, of course, whiskey. The doughnuts are made fresh daily with  creative toppings. A few of the most well- known doughnuts are The Stud, Key Lime, The Homer, and Munchies. Batch doesn’t offer just another classic craft cocktail bar—just whiskey and bourbon.

Batch Café & Bar is something completely different than any hospitality concept that Kade and Ronnie have taken on. He continues to impress the community and visitors of Tucson with his innovation and creative entrepreneurship. Visit one of his locations for yourself and experience the different atmospheres of each one and keep an eye out for updates and news about their two new ventures currently in the works.
