MoonAge is a David Bowie influenced Phoenix-based Jewelry pop-up within DeSoto Central Market that offers unique handmade styles and designs. Tyler Green and Kelli Van are the metalsmiths and masterminds behind this local joint. The price points are very affordable and fair and they only use precious metals and genuine stones in all of their Southwest-inspired pieces.

I truly recommend MoonAge to anyone who is looking for a homemade gift from a local Phoenician shop. Boys, Valentines Day is just around the corner. Stop by to gift your girl a handmade one-of-kind jewelry piece.

This fashion forward boutique is modeled by Closet Vomit Fashion and Kennedy Dawn; well-known fashion bloggers. Read below about our Couture Conversation with owners Tyler and Kelli.

How did your entrepreneurial journey start? Where do you hope to be within the next 5 years?

The idea of MoonAge started with us wanting to have our own business and not have to work for someone else. So in October 2014 we said “let’s do it” and began chasing our dreams. The future for us is online and wholesale as it has really taken off and surpassed the need for a brick and mortar location.

What inspires you when you are creating a new piece?

Almost anything can be an inspiration for a new piece, it’s really fun to take an old idea and put a different twist into it. For example, I love to mix silver with gold, put diamonds next to turquoise, and leave a piece raw or unfinished looking.

What characteristics about MoonAge make it stand out? How is it different from

other local jewelry stores?
The jewelry game is very crowded and it’s important to try and be yourself and not really worry about what other people are doing because it’s hard to stand out.  One thing that we really stand by is quality and honesty. We try and keep our price point affordable while still using the best materials we can get our hands on. We are not some store in the mall or a large chain selling mass-produced overpriced jewelry. We hand make every piece, We hand pick the stones, We bust our asses, We are LOCAL.

What attracts you to David Bowie?

We grew up listening to the S”tarman,” we took something that we had a deep connection to and incorporated it with our brand. Obviously MoonAge is from the song Moonage Daydream by David Bowie. Put that song on and turn it up! You’ll either get it or you won’t.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Keep on pushing, you’re killing it.

You can easily shop MoonAge’s products online or if you would like to meet the awesome couple in-person, they have a pop-up store on the first floor of DeSoto Central Market in Downtown Phoenix. We look forward to seeing more of their amazing creations and the expansion of their homegrown brand.
