Phoenix Fashion Week 2012 continued at Talking Stick Resort, showcasing talented designers from LA, NYC, and of course, Arizona! The night started off with a style villa marketplace, giving guests an opportunity to shop the clothes and accessories of local boutiques and the emerging designers that showed their collections.
Fashionistas were then ushered to the runway (after waiting for a little bit… Fashion is never on time, right?) and got to sit back to enjoy the show. Kent Denim started off the night, showing casual menswear looks. Mixed denim washes were prevalent in the show, as were shirtless models much to our delight!
Mabella Chic, an emerging designer from last year’s Phoenix Fashion Week, was next. This line is designed with strong, independent women in mind. Whether they are in the office, running around town, or out on date night, Mabel Cortez wants her customer to feel confident. Flaunt it ladies.
Another menswear designer, Davinci, continued the show. The 70’s inspired fabrics were fun and fashion forward. This is definitely a trend to take note of gentlemen.
Next up were the Phoenix Fashion Week emerging designers (Test: Do you remember them all? If not, we’ll help you out here). Living Dreams took over the runway with their hot t-shirt designs. Michael Poulos talked about the meaning behind the line in his opening video, giving chills to the crowd. It’s awesome to see a talented young designer living out his dreams (pun intended).
OfraStyle was next on the runway, showcasing her active wear line. Her pieces allow women to “look great, feel comfortable.” Bonus: each piece can be worn in a variety of different ways, as demonstrated on the runway.
Our favorite show of the night, Shawl Dawls, continued the emerging designer portion. The styling of this show was absolutely fantastic – highlighting not only their shawl, but also the jewelry pieces from the emerging accessory designers. These girls showed that details really do matter. Great job dawls!
Samantha Patterson was the last of the emerging designers for Day 2. Her designs take modest apparel to a new level with strong patterns and on trend colors. Oh, and props to this designer for featuring the best shoes of the night!
After a short intermission, Cafe Bleu took over the runway. These menswear looks were unexpected and unique. We loved the fun colored buttons and patterned cuffs on the shirts.
Mariska closed out the night with ultra-feminine looks. The outerwear was simply divine and we loved the hats that complimented the outfits. Pops of red paired with black sequins are perfect for the coming fall season. Overall, a gorgeous finale show.
Phoenix Fashion Week’s three pillars- fashion, education, and humanity – can be seen in all sorts of ways throughout the week. One of our favorites was the Inspire Fashion t-shirt design contest, where students were challenged to design a shirt incorporating the Phoenix Fashion Week logo.
Congratulations to Ashley Cooper from MCC! Get her design all week at the style villa marketplace (Here’s a quick preview).
Day 2 of Phoenix Fashion Week definitely didn’t disappoint, but we’re greedy little fashionistas and already looking forward to seeing even more designs!
