Social Media Inspired Fashion

Phoenix’s third annual Social Media Day was held at the Ritz Carlton hotel downtown. The event focuses on connecting local businesses through a mutual love of social media. This year they added a social media inspired fashion show where designers were challenged to create looks inspired by sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and Instagram.

We loved the way Instagram, Pinterest and  Facebook incorporated photos into their designs. Although we don’t recommend “pinning” yourself with photos for every day wear, we “liked” the runway illustration of photo sharing.

The Tumblr look was dramatic and edgy, with laser-cut “t” symbols on the shoulder detailing. Twitter took inspiration from the little blue bird icon, and it turned out #fantasic.

The designers from Deeds of Love, Rock N Couture, and Collins College took social media from the computer to the catwalk. Bravo designers. Now all we need is an outfit inspired by our coffee order…
