The ABC’s of Bold Beauty

Bold is beautiful. This summer, we say it’s go big or go home. We’re talking bold makeup, bold hair, bold fashion… we can’t get enough! Don’t worry if it sounds intimidating at first. These 3 easy steps will help take your look from boring to BOLD in a flash.

A: Accessories

Choose pieces that are eye-catching and daring. Mix metals, shapes, and textures to add instant drama to your look. But make sure your ensemble doesn’t get too overwhelming. If necklaces are your thing, pair them with a plain top. If you want big rings, choose smaller bracelets. The right colors and proportions in your clothing can prevent your accessories from going from bold to messy.

B: Brows

This trend has been seen on all the major fashion runways. Bold brows are a definite do for your beauty look. For our photographs, we used dark brown brow powder and angled brush, but you could also use a brow pencil or even tinted brow gel.

Start by brushing your brow hairs into the shape you want and then take your brush and draw a line slightly above your actual brow. Blend the color down into the hairs, and continue filling in the brows. Tada! You’re set with runway-ready brows that will take your smokey eye to the next level.

C: Curls

Have some fun with your hair and save it from the boredom of your flat iron. To get this dramatic ‘do, we used a 1/2 inch tapered wand (and about 1hr with Mr. Lino Martinez at Park Avenue Blow Dry & Beauty Bar). We think pop culture’s iconic curly-haired ladies (like Sandy from Grease, Carrie Bradshaw of Sex in the City and, of course, Madonna) would be proud to see young fashionistas rocking a look each one of them wore so proudly.

So there you go. Bold Beauty is as easy as ABC. All you have to do is throw on a dress that makes you look and feel absolutely amazing. May we suggest a figure-flattering black maxi dress? Easy to wear, and oh so chic. Now strut your stuff darling.

P.S. A HUGE thank you to Lino at Park Avenue Blow Dry & Beauty Bar for my amazing hair and makeup! You rock. And a special thank you to Ashley Viker as well for being an amazing photographer.
