We love getting pampered just as much as the next fashionista, so when we were invited to a night of beauty to benefit The Shine Project, of course we couldn’t say no! Our newest contributor, Megan, represented Couture in the Suburbs at this fabulous event. She shares what her night was like getting glammed up by some of Phoenix’s most talented hair and makeup artists.

The Shine Project

“Walking into The Shine Project’s event was such a neat experience. There were tables set up showcasing Threads, Franses boutique and raffles, along with food and beverages. Ashley LeMieux, founder of The Shine Project, welcomed me and took me upstairs where the beauty bar was. As we walked up the stairs, Ashley shared how well the event was turning out and how much she appreciated everyone coming out to support The Shine Project.

“As we approached the top of the stairs, I saw women all over the place. In the first room, there were two MAC make up artists. I shuffled in there to get my make up done and was chatting with the gal about to do my make up. She told me she used to work with MAC, but now has her own make up line! She did a fantastic job on my make up. I was so pleased.”

Shine Project Beauty Event Saskia Salon girls

Saskia Salon had taken over the biggest room, with the sound of blow dryers and hairspray and people laughing in the atmosphere. I walked over to the chair where Saskia herself sat down and welcomed me! As she curled my hair, we talked about her salon and how her team was helping The Shine Project for this event. She and her staff do many charity events and were so happy to help Ashley with this one!”

“Along with make up and hair, The Shine Project offered an eyebrow waxing area and a full nail salon. As I watched others get their brows and nails done, I noticed all the women seemed to be so happy and pleased!

Shortly after my hair and makeup was done, I headed down stairs to hear the kids speak about what The Shine Project is – fundraising to help kids in high school pay for some of their college, whether they need money for books and supplies, or even a few classes. All 3 teens expressed how much The Shine Project has helped them and how thankful they are for Ashley. It was a very successful event.”

As Megan mentioned, the reason for the whole event was to raise money for The Shine Project Scholarship so Ashley’s company can continue to provide funding for education. Check out this awesome video to learn more about The Shine Project:
