Dear Diary: Modeling for a Cause

I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to participate in Phoenix Fashion Week in a whole new way this year. For those of you who haven’t heard, I’ll be modeling in Phoenix Fashion Week’s Fashionably Pink show benefiting the local breast caner non-profit, Don’t be a Chump, Check for a Lump. Last year’s Fashionably Pink show was so much fun (See photos and an event recap in our story here), and I have no doubt this year will be spectacular as well.

I have to admit, I am a little bit nervous to have all eyes on me as I walk down the runway at Domus. I mean, I am used to being more behind the scenes, more the photographer than the “model”. Luckily, all my friends and family have been super reassuring, telling me that I’ll do great and won’t trip (crossing my fingers not to have a Carrie Bradshaw at NYFW moment…. you remember that episode, right?). And, I am SO in love with my dress that emerging designer, Stephanie Gentry, has created for me. I seriously didn’t want to take it off when we did the fitting! I can’t wait to see it the Melis cuff. Those two are an epic designer combination.

The best part about walking in the Fashionably Pink show though is not the dress (which, again, is amazing) or the glitz and glamour, but knowing that I am helping out women who have had a rough season in their lives. This year, Don’t Be a Chump, Check for a Lump is using the proceeds of the events for their Wig Out program, which offers wigs to women who are going through chemotherapy. Check out this video where breast cancer survivors talk about what having a wig means to them.

This event is certainly not one to miss. In fact, it’s so popular that most of the seats are sold out. However, there are some standing room tickets left for just $25. If you are interested in attending the fashion show to benefit an amazing cause (and see me strut my stuff in a Stephanie Gentry original) , you can buy tickets at the Fashionably Pink event page here.
