Fuss-Free Foundation

Well ladies, I have been searching for years and I think I finally found THE foundation! Anyone who has spent the better part of their adult life – like myself – searching for the perfect foundation can probably relate when I say I thought it was never going to happen. I’ve tried everything from drugstore brands to astronomically-priced designer brands, and nothing was just right. The foundations were always too oily, too drying, too flakey, too orange… you name it. There was always an issue.

I have been using Bobby Brown Long-Wear Even Finish foundation ($48) for the last year or so because it seemed to keep my sensitive skin clear of blemishes for the most part, while also giving my skin a velvety finish. The Bobby Brown foundation was incredible. I constantly had people asking what I used, and this was always my answer. I thought that foundation was the be-all end-all of every foundation. Coming from someone who’s tried over 40 different foundations – yes, I’m serious – I thought I had found them all, and I was comfortable with this product.

That was until the other day when I was at CVS, of all places, and I found the greatest foundation I’ve ever tried! Revlon Photoready Airbrush Effect foundation ($15). It has the coverage that my Bobby Brown foundation had – without the oiliness – while using half the amount of product! The finish is very natural, which is difficult to find when using a heavier foundation. I love full-coverage foundation, but I’ve always struggled to find the right one because my skin never looks like skin when I wear them. This foundation breaks the cycle! And don’t even get me started on the price! Not only could I buy three of these foundations for the price of one Bobby Brown bottle, I can actually say it’s truly a better product.

No filters, no retouching, and no enhancing. Just purely the Revlon foundation.

If you need one more reason to try this product out, check out the color selections. My biggest issue when trying to find the right foundation was color matching. (Seriously, look at my foundation (Bobbi Brown) in my red lip post. Yikes, sorry guys.) I have a very unique skin tone… the color is definitely not pink, but not really yellow, a little warm, and without a single bit of cool pigment. My face is also always about two shades lighter than my body. My situation is actually relatively common – it’s hard for most people to find their right shade. This foundation makes it easy. I was able to eyeball the perfect color, and thankfully the color of the bottles tends to be the actual color of the formula inside (Hallelujah!).

Here are some things you need to know before you buy it:

  1. This foundation is the only foundation I’ve ever tried that actually has glitter in it. Like… actual glitter. Let me start with saying I despise glitter on my face – it freaks me out. However, I’m happy to say that I don’t even notice it, and it actually gives my skin a gorgeous finish sans highlighter. Don’t let this scare you away! Just know it’s there, and it’s supposed to be.
  2. Trust me when I say I was skeptical of drugstore foundations. I have been infamous for spending upwards of $60 on a foundation because I believe that the base that you put on your skin should be the best possible product. Think about it, your face has pores and pores allow products to seep into your system. Who wants horrible products in their bloodstream? Not me! With that being said, over the years I have not been able to wear drugstore foundations because my sensitive skin will not tolerate it. Incredibly enough, this foundation has actually decreased the amount of my breakouts.
  3. This formula may be drying for your skin. I’ve learned that because I love this foundation so much, I’m willing to deal with that. I over-moisturizer at night so my skin has a flawless finish in the morning. I haven’t noticed any issues, and the foundation wears beautifully. I don’t notice any dry patches or my makeup settling into fine lines because of it. But, because of this, this may not be the foundation for you if you have very dry skin. It may be just a bit too drying. The good part about the dry formula, however, is that I rarely get oily during the day, if I do at all.

This is my new go-to foundation for all occasions, and I hope you love it as much as I do! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
