The Story Behind Indie Lee

There are people you come across who truly change your life in an instant – Indie Lee is one of those people.

As I sat in a private room at the We Do Men spa in Scottsdale with Indie talking about the life changing moments that led to the creation of an all natural skincare line, I continuously caught myself thinking, “Wow, what an incredible woman.” Incredible she is. The culmination of events that transpired leading up to her own line are none other than noteworthy and extraordinary. The story begins…

When her sister was pregnant, Indie began researching products that her sister would be using on her baby, and found herself unsatisfied with their contents. Indie had previously began working on a greenhouse in her backyard at home in New York, and decided that she would use her own garden to create natural products for her sister and her baby shower guests. This was the beginning of Indie Lee.

November 4, 2008: Fast forward a few years and Indie’s life took a different turn. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The doctors informed her she had about six months to live, but Indie knew otherwise. She sought a surgeon to remove the tumor, a surgery she only had a 40% chance of waking up from, and entered the surgery with the same positive energy as someone walking into their favorite coffee shop on a fine morning. She woke up from surgery and was told she was tumor free.

Most people would look at this experience and call it the worst thing that’s ever happened to them, but not Indie. In fact, she told me that the day she was diagnosed was one of the best days of her entire life, because that was the day she actually began living. And that was when I began to cry. Inspiring doesn’t even begin to cover an explanation of this beautiful soul. Her energy is intoxicating, her positivity overpowering in the best possible sense, and her no- BS take on life is something to strive for.

Now, she has a successful, all natural skincare line called Indie Lee. The line is carried in many places, one of them being Saks Fifth Avenue. She has an array of exceptional products, but the ones I’ve heard the most praise for are the Squalane Facial Oil (one of Indie’s favorites), the CoQ-10 Toner, and the Rosehip Cleanser. All of Indie’s products are incredibly affordable, and if Saks carries them, then you know they’re incredible. When I commented on the affordability of her products – something a bit uncommon in the world of natural skincare products – Indie made it clear that she believed everyone should have the ability to put products on their skin that won’t harm them. Her passion, good nature and concern for other’s health truly shines through in this area, as it’s clear that her mission is less about making a profit and more about truly helping others. This is, perhaps, the most beautiful part of all.
