7 Things to Do to Stay Cool in Phoenix’s Summer Heat

As it hits mid July, we Phoenicians are about done with the summer heat. If you aren’t able to take a trip out of town, the next best thing to do is to distract yourself. Below are 7 ways I like to spend the summer in Phoenix… all with a focus on staying cool!

1. Phoenix Art Museum

Wandering around looking at art is without a doubt one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon. The building is kept nice and cool, so you won’t be thinking about the summer heat at all as you browse past the world-class art exhibits at PAM. My favorite exhibit currently on display is, of course, the Defining Moments fashion exhibit (Read more about that here).

2. Churn Ice Cream

Ice cream is an absolute must in this summer heat! Churn is my go-to destination because A. it is super close to my house B. the ice cream is all natural, made on site without any added chemicals so I feel just the tiniest bit better about this summer treat.

3. Lucky Strike Bowling

If you’re looking to get a group of people together, or even for a fun summer date idea, Lucky Strike is your ideal destination. The vibe is so cool and inviting, you’ll forget just how dorky you look in your bowling shoes.

4. Cobra Arcade Bar

If you really want a blast from the past, go check out Cobra Arcade Bar. For our 21+ crowd, this is the perfect way to spend a summer evening with 40 vintage arcade games and 14 beers on tap.

5. The Phoenician Resort

If you need a change of scenery, think about a staycation! I absolutely love the Phoenician Resort because their pool is absolutely beautiful. There is nothing I love more than sipping Sangria poolside with my best friends by my side.

6. The Brush Bar

Exercise your creative genius at The Brush Bar. With a calendar of different classes available, you’ll become an expert painter in no time!

7. Film Bar

Film Bar is one of my absolute favorite places in Phoenix. I love the smaller scale theatre, the drink menu, and the artsy films they bring to town. If you’ve never been, you absolutely must check out their calendar of screenings and go at once! I’ll probably see you there.
