October is here and so is the biggest week for Arizona fashion! Tuesday night officially kicked off Phoenix Fashion Week with the 9th annual Fashionably Pink show. The event was held at Domus, an apartment complex in Arcadia that opened—get this—today! You know you’re ahead of the game when the building isn’t even on Google Maps.
This brand new venue was covered in cupcakes, balloons, and wigs that were hot pink and totally fabulous.
Both emerging and established designers will show their full collections later this week, but on Tuesday, we saw local celebs and breast cancer survivors take the runway, rocking all pink! Guests watched touching on-screen true stories of women whose lives were changed due to the non-profit “Don’t Be A Chump, Check For A Lump.” This Phoenix-based organization, founded by Holly Rose, does an amazing job promoting self-check exams and giving wigs to women who have lost their hair from chemotherapy.
The energy was contagious as the models strut their stuff down the catwalk that was lined awfully close to the pool. Radio personalities John Jay and Rich jumped right in, proving how much fun charity events can be when you have such an incredible foundation to support.
Television anchors like Cory McClosky from Fox 10, the Sonora Living ladies from channel 3, and the handsome Arie Luyendyk Jr. from the Bachelorette all rocked the runway looking fierce and rocking pink’d out apparel.
Our own editor, Lindsay Viker, was even chosen to walk as a local celeb. How gorgeous is her original Stephanie Gentry design paired with a tough girl cuff by Melis Accessories?!
Fashionably Pink was once again a perfect kick off to a full week of gawking over gorgeous models, risk-taking looks, and full collections by designers—emerging and established. All of the fun begins this Thursday, October 3rd-5th at Talking Stick Resort.
The Couture in the Suburbs team won’t miss a second, so check back for daily recaps of each night of Phoenix Fashion Week!
