Summertime in Arizona means that sometimes the only possible way to deal with the scorching heat is to either duck into a cool, dark movie theater, or dive right into a perfectly blue pool of water at a trendy resort. So, a trip to the resort pool is exactly what we did!

Katrina Jarrett and Aubrey Long Phoenician Resort Scottsdale

On Saturday, we headed to the beautiful Phoenician Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona to bask in the ambiance of this gorgeous hotspot. And as if the location wasn’t cool enough, we had the added pleasure of wearing Misha Mendicino Designs, one of Phoenix’s Emerging Designers (Remember her from the Announcement Event? Check out our Emerging Designers article here). We were thrilled to spend the day with Misha, lounging poolside in her comfortable and relaxing resort wear collection. Trust us, you are going to love it!

My first outfit was a long maxi, which given my height of 5’9”, can sometimes be challenging for me to wear. I usually have to get a larger size to gain more length, but this usually leaves me with a dress that is bigger all-around, and frankly, that is not a good look! But, Misha’s dress was a different story altogether. I tried on a small in this piece, and happily, it skimmed my toes right where it should, while allowing my glitter sandals to show through. To tie the shoes and jewelry together, I added a gold seahorse and octopus ring to the mix, which made me wish I was somewhere tropical, listening to the waves crashing against the rocks. And let’s not forget about the big, movie star sunglasses, that can make any outfit a to-die-for!

My second ensemble had me practically drooling. The dress had a cinched waist that defined my curves even though the fabric extended past my actual waist. Since I was going for a perfect pool outfit, I decided to add a floppy hat and a colorful tall heel. Not only was the outfit fun, but the fabric could breath in the unwavering Arizona heat. There’s nothing like sitting pretty, poolside!

My first look can be easily described in two words, boho chic. This dress is absolutely gorgeous! It is so soft and light, making it perfect for the hundred degree weather that we have to bare. The pattern, a tropical floral in pastel pink, is perfect for lounging around the pool. And how could you not fall in love with the little coconut detail? The only thing I added to complete my look was a sparkly rhinestone headband and my most comfortable pair of woven wedges. I felt like a tropical Cleopatra!

My second look couldn’t be any more perfect for a day spent at the resort in this elephant print sarong. Misha, the designer, was so kind to help me style the sarong into the perfect wrap dress. It’s amazing how many ways you can style this piece, making it the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe! The details did not stop with the sarong and its coconut buckle. I also added a fun, nautical  striped headband (very Michael Kors inspired), some gold statement earrings, and a couple of playful rings.

We had such an amazing time with Misha and loved all of the looks that she helped to create for us. She made us feel like resort royalty in the hot Arizona sun! Make sure you continue to watch her journey as she continues on in the Phoenix Fashion Week Emerging Designers Contest.
