Event season is in full swing. With fashion shows, charity events, and formal dinners almost every weekend, it can be hard to find the joy in getting ready to go out night after night.

To make the process a bit sweeter, we’ve partnered up with The Sparkle Bar, who you may remember as our official beauty sponsor for Phoenix Fashion Week 2015. After 3 nights of pampering our team at their gorgeous location in Old Town Scottsdale, we can officially say this is a must for any woman who needs to add some sparkle to her life (be it for events, or just for fun!).

During Phoenix Fashion Week, our team enjoyed their Blush Rush service – a $25 service that includes eye makeup, lip color, and cheek color. Basically, you come with your foundation ready (read: no chance of awkward color matching gone wrong!), and their team of experts take care of the rest.

We are beyond thrilled to giveaway 3 Blush Rush services so you can go try it out for yourself. Enter to win below!

Up until recently, a place like The Sparkle Bar would have been hard to come by due to Arizona’s strict licensing laws for makeup artists. However, thanks to Leiah Scheibel and Alex Bradberry, the two founders of TSB, the laws have changed.

We sat down with these incredible women to find out more about their role in making the Arizona makeup world a better place for freelance artists.

CitS: How did the change in the law about makeup artists help studios like The Sparkle Bar?

TSB: While there are no other studios like TSB in the valley currently, SB1320 now allows makeup artists throughout the state, whether licensed by the board or not, to beautify clients without threat of being fined. The bill also allows artists to practice their talents without costly or time consuming licensing requirements, that do not even teach makeup artistry specifically. (Read more about the bill here.)

CitS: That’s incredible! But, without the expertise of licensing, how does The Sparkle Bar enforce sanitary guidelines in the salon?

TSB: TSB follows the Milady sanitation procedure which is the industry standard. Sanitation, cleanliness and safety are our highest priority. TSB ensures a clean and sanitary application by shaving and sanitizing each product before and after each use. Additionally, most products never touch the client, we shave a small piece of clean product, apply it to a tray and we sanitize all products and brushes used after every client and also use disposable wands for lashes. This is the proper process to follow and because we service clients individually can take great care between clients which is something that is often times overlooked at the more traditional department store counter.

CitS: What type of conversation should a customer have with their makeup artist to ensure they leave with the look they want?

TSB: TSB makeup artists welcome each client with a few questions about their lifestyle, current regimen and products they already use to determine what the client will be comfortable with. Following up with a few questions about the reason for the visit and what they will be wearing, it’s important for us to understand the reason for the visit which then allows artists to use their expertise in color theory to create a customized look created exclusively for the client.
