It’s very rare that you meet someone and instantly connect on your shared passions. But, Brandon Greer and I really did connect instantly over our love of fashion and art when we first met each other at a Phoenix Fashion Week event many years ago. Now, I am so happy to be able to support his new vision of bringing underground fashion, visual art, and poetry to Arizona as a sponsor of Square 1. Learn more about the blogger behind My Boy B and the visionary behind the 3-part series in our latest Couture Conversations.

CitS: Who is Brandon Greer?

BG: A 28-year old creative director, I’m a fan of big art pieces, storytelling, REAL hip-hop music, all facets of basketball, menswear/streetwear, and hanging with the homies. A guy looking to create, inspire, and influence through positive example. Aspiring to make a life doing what I love to do, I just want to make cool stuff with cool people.

CitS: Who were some major influences in your life and how did they help you get where you are today?

BG: Outside of the typical pop culture influences like Allen Iverson, Usher, and Will Smith, my family have to be the biggest influencers in my life. All of us with special talents, we’ve always encouraged the positive way of things and letting our growth happen naturally. Even though the lessons and support might came in different forms, its presence has never been in question.

CitS: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

BG: “If you don’t try, you won’t know. And believe me, knowing is everything.” Carried with me as a young kid finding himself, gaining self-knowledge and having a willingness to try something different was everything.

CitS: What’s one of your favorite things about Phoenix?

BG: Besides perfect winter temperatures Phoenix is known for, I really like the multicultural atmosphere building around the city. Even if I’d like to see the people born and raised here show more interest in the culture of Phoenix and Arizona, the fact the people from all over the country can call this place home is awesome. If you’re open to meeting new people, you can definitely find what you’re looking for in Phoenix.

CitS: What is your favorite place to hang out at on the weekends?

BG: Without a doubt has to be Downtown Phoenix. From the Valley bar hitting the scene, to Angels Trumpet and Film Bar on Roosevelt, if I want to meet up with some friends and kick it, Downtown is where I’m headed.

CitS: What brand/designer are you wearing right now?

BG: Blue and brown Nike Blazers. Black Marc Ecko joggers. A classic Hanes white tee. And my staple Hundreds maroon 5-panel hat

CitS: You’ve had a lot of success with the first two Square 1 events. What can we expect to see at the third event?

BG: Focused around the fashion this time around, we’re looking to depict the essence of fashion design in each form of artistry. Our biggest goal with the shows are to turn them into strung together performances and this one is going to be no different. A runway show ending in a creative display to future the designers and their craft, we’re looking to make this show our most interactive one yet.
